HHS announced the new compliance date for ICD-10 in August, ending months of speculation-and possibly stalling-within the healthcare industry. What the new compliance date really means, though, is that it's time to stop procrastinating and start transitioning.
"I hope organizations did not lose momentum in the recent period of limbo, but if anyone did, we just got the green light to surge onward and upward," says ­Shannon McCall, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-I, CEMC, CCDS, director of HIM and coding for HCPro, Inc., in Danvers, Mass.
