Q/A: Code changes for October

Q: Did CMS add any codes as part of the October OPPS update?

A: CMS added three new HCPCS codes, effective October 1:

  • C9292, injection, pertuzumab
  • C9293, injection, glucarpidase
  • G9157, transesophageal Doppler used for cardiac monitoring

Codes C9292 and C9293 have a status indicator G (pass-through drugs and biological).
Code G9157 has a status indicator M (items and services not billable to the fiscal intermediary) and is subject to I/OCE edit 72 (service not billable to the Fiscal Intermediary/Medicare Administrative Contractor).

CMS added the following two codes to the conditionally bilateral list, effective July 1:

  • 0308T, insertion of ocular telescope prosthesis including removal of crystalline lens
  • 15777, implantation of biologic implant (eg, acellular dermal matrix) for soft tissue reinforcement (eg, breast, trunk) (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)
