During the 2nd Annual CDI Week held September 17-21, facilities all over the country celebrated the CDI profession. In honor of this year’s theme “Physicians and CDI: Joining Forces in Clinical Documentation Excellence,” ACDIS created posters and offered materials which CDI programs across the country used to promote their efforts within their facilities.
In addition, ACDIS offered its 2nd Annual Industry Overview Survey in which 47% of respondents indicated their hospital is considering expanding CDI efforts to all payers—additional evidence that the CDI profession represents a growing and valued field in healthcare. ACDIS also offered a daily Q&A from industry experts on hot topics in the CDI industry.
ACDIS wishes to thank this year’s CDI Week sponsors, ChartWise Medical Systems Inc., Maxim Health Information Services, MetaHealth Technology, and J.A. Thomas and Associates, and thanks to MedPartners CDI for hosting a “CDI Appreciation Sweepstakes.”
During the week, ACDIS also held a few trivia contests with participants of CDI Talk. Winners included:
Sarah Baine, Megan Barton, Vivian Bollinger, Kathy Brott-Franks, Beth Cobb, Molly DeMink, Elizabeth A. Dove, Paul Evans, Alicia Gordon, Susan Harris, Lolita Henley, Robert Hodges, Sheila Hume, Tara Kreiling, Debbie LaRue, Angie McKee, Karen McKaig, Pamela Parris, Tracy M. Peyton, Laurie Prescott, Suzan Powers, Dawn Vitalone, Deb Hilliard White, Deborah J. Williams, and Dawn Witty.
On the ACDIS Blog, we posted a few team photos and held a cartoon caption contest which garnered more than 30 extremely clever responses. Winners were:
- Dale Stout who wrote: What happened to the typewriters?
- Andrea Groenhagen who wrote: These hands are for surgery not for documentation!
If you got caught up in your CDI Week activities and haven’t had an opportunity to take a CDI team photo there is still time. Submit your photo with complete identification(s) to ACDIS Associate Director Melissa Varnavas via email mvarnavas@cdiassociation.com. We will pick a selection of submissions to publish.
We also encourage you to email ACDIS Member Services Specialist Penny Richards at prichards@cdiassociation.com with your CDI success stories and/or descriptions of how you celebrated CDI Week this year. For example, explain a successful process you developed, describe a difficult query you had answered, tell us about a department goal you met, or a tough physician you won over. We will publish these success stories and a few selected respondents will win an ACDIS product.
