Local events: Chapter leaders plan fall sessions

Florida: Reservations for the upcoming Florida ACDIS Chapter meeting slated for Saturday, September 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Baptist Health in Jacksonville, are due September 3. The last call for nominations for new Florida ACDIS Chapter leadership is Wednesday, September 5. Only one nominee per organization can volunteer to lead. To volunteer, contact Voting will be held during the FL ACDIS Chapter quarterly meeting.

Additionally, the agenda includes:
  • 9-9:30 a.m.: Registration/Breakfast
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m.: “CDI Program Excellence: Tips of how to Create and Maintain a Program” by Michelle Dragut, MD, CCS, CDIP, Physician Advisor Clinical Documentation, Florida Hospital Association  
  • 10:30-11 a.m.: “Getting Physician Buy-In and Cooperation for Your CDI Program” by James Altomare, MD, Physician Advisor.
  • 11:00-11:45 a.m.: Panel Discussion with Dr. Michelle Dragut, Dr. James Altomare, and Ms. Barbara Flynn. Submit questions for the panel via email to
  • 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Lunch, raffles and networking
  • 12:45-1:45 p.m.: “Wound Debridement” by David Ross, MD, Wound Care Physician
  • 1:45-2:45 p.m.:  “Decreasing Risk of Payment Denials: How the CDI Program can Help” by Barbara Flynn, RHIA, CCS, vice president of Health Information and Denial Management               
  • 2:45-4:00- “Changing of the Guard for the Florida ACDIS Chapter” Outgoing Leadership/Ballots and Incoming Leadership

Georgia: The Southeast ACDIS Chapter meets Friday, September 7, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun. Cost is $10 for non-members. RSVP to James Doster via email at

Wisconsin: The WI ACDIS Chapter holds its fall meeting Saturday, September 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, in Madison. The agenda includes:
