Membership Update: New chapters forming in Arizona, Austin, TX, Colorado, Houston, TX, and New York City

The following ACDIS chapters are just getting off the ground. If you are interested in participating and helping them grow, please contact the representatives noted below.
Arizona: Gloria Richardson, RN, CDI specialist at Scottsdale HealthCare enjoyed meeting other CDI specialists when she participated in the Day 2 Networking lunch and bingo game during the 5th Annual ACDIS Conference in San Diego earlier this year. The group agreed that they should meet again and start an ACDIS Chapter for their own state. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 19, during the second annual CDI Week festivities. For information, call Richardson at 408-882-5246 or email GRichardson@SHC.org.
Colorado: Eric Ryland, RHIA, CHDA, CCS, CPC, coding manager at Denver Health, and CDI program manager Jane Hoyt have planned an after-hours event to kick-off the creation of the Colorado ACDIS Chapter on Thursday, August 30, 6-8 p.m., at the Olive Garden Restaurant in Lakewood. New York: The New York City/Five Boroughs networking group will hold its inaugural meeting from 4-6 p.m. on September 20, at the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn. RSVP to Wanda Mejias-Gonzalez by calling 718-302-8542 or email wmejias@wyckoffhospital.org.
Texas: Barbara Anne Presley, RN, CCDS,University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, began planning for an Austin, TX ACDIS Chapter a little more than six months ago. On Saturday, September 8, from 1-4 p.m., she expects more than 30 area CDI specialists to join her at the Center for its first networking meeting. Similarly, independent consultant Pat Spooner has been energetically planning a first networking meeting for CDI specialists in the Houston, TX, area. Their first meeting was held Wednesday, August 15, at 3 p.m. For information, contact her at budderpat@yahoo.com.
