On March 7, the two proposed rules related to Stage 2 of the meaningful use program appeared in the Federal Register.

The rules, CMS’ proposed rule outlining requirements for Stage 2 attestation of meaningful use and the Office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology (ONC) proposed rule describing the standards and criteria for EHR certification, are now open for public comment. The 60-day comment period runs through May 7. (Submit comments here.)

In addition, CMS is hosting a call for providers on meaningful use March 12. The presentation will be available for download along with other EHR-related resources for eligible hospitals and professionals, and a recording of the call should be made available soon after on the CMS website.
