PCAST releases report on health information technology

On December 8, the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) released a report, “Realizing the Full Potential of Health Information Technology (HIT) to Improve Healthcare for Americans: The Path Forward,” which discusses the progress of HIT adoption.

The report includes discussion on the following issues:

  • EHRs, including experiences of early adopters, incentives, and challenges
  • Privacy and security
  • Regulatory framework and economic conditions
