Last week’s question
Which planet is considered the Evening Star or the Morning Star, depending on which time of day it is up and dominating the twilight?
  1. Mars
  2. Mercury
  3. Jupiter
  4. Venus
The correct answer is D. Venus reaches its maximum brightness shortly before sunrise or shortly after sunset, for which reason it has been known as the Morning Star or Evening Star. It overtakes Earth every 584 days as it orbits the sun.  As it does so, it changes from the evening star, visible after sunset, to the morning star, visible before sunrise. Venus is usually visible to the naked eye and often is called Earth’s sister planet because they possess similar size, gravity, and bulk composition.
