Pay-Per-View: CMS addresses three-day payment window, wage index

During the May 27 Hospital Open Door Forum call, a CMS representative reminded the audience that CMS will be adding hospital outpatient department data to the Hospital Compare website and refreshing the outcome measures for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia, mortality, and readmission.

Several callers asked about the three-day payment window. One asked about proposed legislation (being considered by the Senate at press time) that aims to stop RAC reopenings and recoupments related to the three-day window and would prevent hospitals from requesting payment for outpatient services they previously bundled in error and haven’t rebilled at the time of the provision’s enactment.
