Stolen laptop contains more than 61,000 patients' information

The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital reported May 28 that a laptop including information regarding 61,027 patients was stolen sometime in March from an employee’s vehicle parked at his home.

The hospital reports on its website it believes the information has not been misused.

Cincinnati Children’s also wrote on its website the laptop included some personal information, including names, medical record numbers, and services received. The laptop did not have Social Security numbers, telephone numbers, or credit card information.

The information was password protected, but not encrypted, the hospital reports. Read more on the hospital’s website.
