A therapist spends five minutes performing an ultrasound and performs 20 minutes of therapeutic activities for a Medicare patient. Should you bill one unit of service or two?

The correct answer is two. Both the ultrasound (97035) and the therapeutic activities (97350) are one-on-one, time-based codes and, as such, fall under CMS’ eight-minute rule.
