Tip: Train employees to avoid 'never events'

Training employees is the important thing employers can do to prevent “never events.”
Establish a strong orientation program that covers facility policies and procedures, and ensure that staff members follow those policies. Don’t forget to speak with them to ensure that they understand the policies and procedures.
Ensure that your facility’s selection or admission criteria is sound. Providers generally should treat individuals with complex medical histories or who need same-day surgeries as inpatients.
