Q: Can eligible hospitals qualify for payments from both the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs?

A: Yes, eligible hospitals can qualify for both the Medicare and Medicaid incentive programs. The proposed rule would deem any hospital that meets the criteria to participate in the Medicaid incentive program and is a meaningful user of certified EHR technology under the Medicare incentive program as qualifying as a meaningful user under both programs. However, this dual satisfaction would apply only to eligible hospitals because eligible professionals may not concurrently receive incentive payments from both the Medicare and the Medicaid incentive programs.
