A patient returned to the emergency department (ED) for a check-up for a recent injury. She only has pain in her hand, and the abrasion on her finger is healing. The physician discharged her with an avulsion fracture base on her x-ray result two days ago.

When she came at ED two days ago, the physician diagnosed her and documented ‘abrasion/ contusion finger with no fracture seen on x-ray’.

Can we report code V67.59 for the follow-up after injury? And for an injury on the same site like abrasion/contusion, can I just code the abrasion (more severe) because it’s on the same site?
