The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics discussed meaningful use as it pertains to EHR implementation during an executive subcommittee meeting April 28–29 in Washington, DC. The meeting included several panel discussions focused on:

  • Meaningful use related to functionality in EHRs
  • Health information exchanges
  • Quality reporting
  • Guidance for vendors, providers, and other stakeholders
  • Public commentary 

David Blumenthal, MD, MPP, national coordinator for health information technology, and Harry Reynolds, Jr., committee chairman, facilitated the discussion.
