CMS to host national provider call on ICD-10 prep

Homecare Insider, August 10, 2015

CMS will soon host an MLN Connects National Provider Call to help healthcare providers gear for the looming kick off of ICD-10.

The forum will take place on Thursday, August 27, from 2:30-4 p.m. ET—a mere five weeks before the implementation of ICD-10 on October 1, and is intended for a wide range of professionals across organizations and the continuum at large, including:
  • Medical coders
  • Physicians
  • Nurses and other non-physician practitioners
  • Provider billing staff
  • Health records staff
  • Vendors
  • Educators
  • System maintainers
  • Laboratories

Andy Slavitt will open the call with a national implementation update. Then, Sue Bowman from the American Health Information Management Association and Nelly Leon-Chisen from the American Hospital Association will offer coding guidance and tips, along with updates from CMS.

Other agenda items include:
  • Advice on how to find answers to coding questions
  • Compliance strategies for claims that span the ICD-10 implementation date
  • Results from acknowledgement and end-to-end testing weeks
  • A rundown of provider coding resources

To register for the call, visit the MLN Connects Event Registration page. Space may be limited, so CMS advises prospective participants to register early.
