Homecare Insider, February 4, 2014

As all homecare providers know, fraud and abuse is a serious problem in the industry. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) decided to continue their fight against fraud and announced a new temporary moratoria on the enrollment of home health agencies in four metropolitan areas (Fort Lauderdale, Detroit, Dallas, and Houston).

CMS is also extending for six-months the current enrollment moratoria of home health agencies in Chicago and Miami in its Medicare, Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) operations.

This issue of Homecare Insider reports on CMS’ new and expanded moratoria. Our Q&A explains how your agency can know if a physician is violating the Physician Self-Referral Law.

Our product spotlight focuses on the ICD-10 transition. Are you looking for an efficient and cost-effective way to prepare your agency for the ICD-10? Beacon Health has the training materials – webcasts and books – that you can use to begin training today!
