Q&A: Notice of Privacy Practices

Compliance Monitor, July 20, 2011

Q: Must patients receive a paper copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices during every encounter at our facility?

A: No. You are required to give patients a copy of your Notice of Privacy Practices when you first provide healthcare services to them. After that, you need to provide another copy only if you make significant changes to the notice.
