Corporate Compliance

Tip: Prepare an incident response

Compliance Monitor, May 18, 2011

Even organizations that have great policies and procedures and train diligently should still have a plan in place to deal with a HIPAA violation. This plan should include any reporting requirements and a road map for how to proceed.

With new breach notification times to contend with, organizations don't have a lot of time to act, which is why these plans are so important. If you aren't organized, much of that time will be spent figuring out what is required rather than taking action.
