Texas home health nurse falsified Medicare beneficiary records

A Texas nurse pleaded guilty to falsifying records in a Medicare home healthcare fraud scheme, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.

Veronica DeLeon, of Weslaco, TX worked for D’Oro Home Health Services as a licensed vocational nurse who visited and treated homebound Medicare beneficiaries. DeLeon admitted to falsifying entire beneficiary forms including blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and cardiac and respiratory status. DeLeon submitted these fraudulent forms to Medicare for thousands of dollars in reimbursements, according to the DOJ.

DeLeon faces up to five years in prison sentence and a $250,000 fine.
