Two Miami DME company presidents separately indicted for Medicare fraud

Two Miami-Dade County durable medical equipment (DME) company presidents were separately indicted for submitting false claims to Medicare, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.

Emilio Felipe Lopez, president of Charlie RX, allegedly submitted approximately $690,000 in false claims to Medicare for unneeded DME, including male vacuum erection systems, according to the DOJ. Medicare paid approximately $370,000 on those claims.

Orlando Hernandez Estevez, president of Happy Trips of Miami Corp., submitted approximately $1.2 million in false claims for inhalation drugs. Happy Trips received approximately $364,000 from Medicare, according to the DOJ.
