A Colorado-based cochlear implant manufacturer will pay $880,000 to resolve anti-kickback statute and False Claims Act allegations, according to a Department of Justice press release.

Cochlear Americas (CA), a subsidiary of Australian company, Cochlear Limited, allegedly paid illegal remunerations to healthcare providers to induce purchases of cochlear implants from CA for Medicare and Medicaid patients.

Whistleblower, Brenda March, filed the lawsuit in 2004 under the qui tam provisions of the False Claims Act. March will receive $176,000 of the recovery.
