Illinois pediatrician pleads guilty to healthcare fraud, surrenders medical license

Compliance Monitor, June 2, 2010

An Illinois pediatrician pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a $64,000 healthcare fraud scheme. She has agreed to permanently surrender her medical license, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.

Jamie S. Warnick, admitted to obtaining free vaccines for children without health insurance and under-insured children, whose insurance does not pay for vaccines. Between 2005 and 2009 Warnick admitted to directing parents of minors to falsely certify that their child qualified for the free vaccine, even though their insurance covered the immunizations.

Warnick billed several insurance companies for the vaccines even though she received them for free, according to the DOJ.
