USCC proposes amending Federal Sentencing Guidelines

Compliance Monitor, May 12, 2010

The United States Sentencing Commission (USCC) has proposed amendments to the Effective Compliance and Ethics Program involving healthcare organizations that do not provide compliance officers direct access to their board of directors.

Under the proposed amendments, compliance officers will have increased authority and the ability to convey information concerning corporate criminals to the board of directors. Barring a block from congress, the amendments take effect November 1.
