OH hospital faces federal charges on healthcare fraud

Compliance Monitor, February 10, 2010

Ohio’s Christ Hospital and the federal government reached a settlement agreement on a whistleblower lawsuit that accuses the hospital of fraudulent activity, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The lawsuit alleges an outpatient cardiology testing unit at Christ supplied cardiologists with improper financial incentives in exchange for generating revenue for the hospital. The cardiologists that incurred the highest revenue based on arterial bypass graph procedures and catheter labs were allocated time at the facility.
