HCCA releases 2009 healthcare fraud survey results

Compliance Monitor, January 13, 2010

The Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) released results of their 2009 survey of compliance and ethics professionals on the perceived inflation of healthcare fraud.

The questionnaire asked participants if they experienced a change in actual or attempted healthcare fraud over the past year in areas such as Stark Law and anti-kickback statues, durable medical equipment, hospitals stays, and more. Respondents in all cases reported an approximate 27% increase in actual or attempted fraud.
