Florida man sentenced in DME Medicare fraud case

U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga sentenced Jimmy A. Soto, of Miami Lakes, FL, to 140 months in prison for his involvement in a Medicare fraud scheme that cost the program $5.4 million in improper payments, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
Soto conspired with Leonardo Lozada, Eliades Diaz, and Jose D. Claroto submit $5.4 million in durable medical equipment (DME) claims that were not prescribed by physicians or delivered to Medicare patients, according to the DOJ.
Altonaga previously sentenced Diaz, Lozada, and Carlo to 80 months in prison, 46 months in prison, and 31 months in prison respectively.
