Quick tip: Working effectively with CDI

While many case managers today work closely with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) specialists, they don’t always see eye to eye, according to Glenn Krauss, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPUR, C-CDI, CCDS, director of enterprise solutions for Zirmed in Chicago. He says that the relationship could improve and become more efficient if CDI were to focus more on improving the written picture of the patient’s condition rather than merely capturing as many comorbidities and complications and major comorbidities and complications.
