Study: Readmissions may be more frequent than originally thought

Case Management Insider, June 30, 2015

A new study in the Annals of Internal Medicine concludes that readmissions may be more frequent than commonly believed.

This is the case because often the patient doesn’t come back to the facility where he or she was treated the first time, but instead goes to a different hospital for the return visit. In addition, study authors also found that in Florida these second visits actually wind up costing more than the original treatment for patients.
