Underinsured Americans, a looming problem
Case Management Insider, June 9, 2015
While many Americans have bought into high-deductible insurance plans, the associated out-of-pocket costs of these plans may make it too costly for insured Americans to get care in some cases, according to a study by The Commonwealth Fund.
Some 31 million Americans between the ages of 19 and 64 may fit into this “underinsured” category, according to HealthLeaders Media. An individual is considered underinsured when he or she spends 10% or more of their yearly income on healthcare.
