Cracking down on RACs

Proposed Congressional legislation introduced in April would crack down on Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC), which some healthcare officials say are unnecessarily taxing on organizations, and in some cases even “abusive,” according to HealthLeaders Media.
The bill, called the Medicare Audit Improvement Act of 2015, has seen some early support. If approved, it aims to eliminate contingency fees up to 12.5% that are paid to RACs for claim denials, among other things.
