Joint Commission proposes performance expectations for ORYX measures

Accreditation Connection, January 28, 2011

The Joint Commission has opened for field review a proposed requirement intended to establish performance expectations for ORYX accountability measures in hospitals.

The Joint Commission requires hospitals to provide performance measurement data for their ORYX core measures quarterly, but does not have in place a mechanism for requiring organizations to then achieve a specific level of performance in conjunction with this data.

The new Element of Performance proposed in this field review would establish a target performance rate for ORYX accountability measures.

For specific details on this proposed Element of Performance or to participate in The Joint Commission’s field review, visit the organization’s website.
