California bill strengthens emergency management
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger closed out the month of September by approving legislation intended to strengthen the state’s emergency management and response, according to the Imperial Valley News.

Ohio hospital gets CDC recognition
The Akron Regional Hospital Association in Akron, OH recently received high praise from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for its pandemic flu plan. The CDC has expressed interest in refining the plan and using it as a model for other communities, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
