MDS 3.0 update: Item J2, Pain symptoms
The MDS 2.0 pain items in J2a "have been repeatedly shown to have poor correspondence with independent pain assessments in nursing home populations," said Debra Saliba, MD, MPH, during the CMS open door forum to review the proposed clinical content changes for the revised draft MDS 3.0.

MDS 2.0 Tip of the week: The quarterly assessment
After completion of the admission assessment, reassessment is required at least quarterly and annually thereafter.
