Court approves Medicare freeze on payments to Miami home healthcare companies
Medicare will continue to suspend payments to Miami home healthcare agencies suspected of fraud, according to a November 24 Miami Herald article.
 
Five more Miami area residents sentenced to prison for Medicare fraud

On November 24, Carlos Contreras and Ramon Pichardo were sentenced to 37 months and 48 months in prison respectively for defrauding Medicare in connection with a $6.8 million HIV infusion fraud scheme, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release. Both will also serve three years probation following their release, in addition to paying $4.2 million to the Medicare trust fund.

 
PA hospital will pay $1.9 million in Medicare fraud settlement
St. Vincent Health System Inc. will pay $1.9 million to settle allegations the company submitted inflated claims to Medicare for reimbursement, according to a Phillips & Cohen LLP press release.
