Healthways’ 4Q08 revenues up 12% from 2007

Healthways, Inc., acknowledged that an “uncertain economic environment” would play a role going forward, as it announced fourth quarter 2008 earnings that missed analysts’ consensus by one cent.

 
Employer communication key to improving health
Although employees may have the best of intentions about improving their health, many are finding that the demands of work, personal life, and overall stress levels are making it difficult for them to achieve their health improvement goals, according to a new survey of more than 1,500 U.S. workers, released by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH). The survey from theNBGH, a Washington, DC–based nonprofit associationof 300 large U.S. employers, found that the vast majority of employees (88%) have taken steps to improve their health within the past year or have been regularly doing so for more than one year.
 
DMAA voices concerns about chronic care in downturn
DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance called forrenewed vigilance in the fight against chronic disease and increased support for care management last week, as many Americans are forgoing basic medical care in the economic downturn.
