Jefferson launches population health school
Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University—the sponsor of an annual disease management conference—has established a new school to study health policy and population health. The Jefferson School of Health Policy and Population Health will begin enrolling students for September 2009.
 
Study: Medical home concept reduces costs
A review of the patient-centered medical home system at the privately held Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania shows that it reduced hospital admissions by 20% and costs by 7%. However, a second study shows that adoption of the medical home concept is slow and that relatively low levels of infrastructure exist to support it.
