Increase in Medicaid costs for long-term care expected

Federal spending on long-term healthcare under the Medicaid program is expected to swell in the next two decades, according to a report released September 29.

 
No rise in Medicare drug premiums for most enrollees in 2009
Of the 10.5 million enrollees in Medicare’s prescription drug plans, 97% will not see a rise in premiums in 2009, Medicare officials announced last week, Forbes/Healthday News reports.
 
CMS publishes new numbers on RAC demonstration project
The percentage of successful provider appeals on RAC overpayments increased from 4.6% to 6.8% in a CMS update to its RAC demonstration report evaluation.
