This e-mail newsletter, created for staff trainers responsible for training nursing assistants, offers a new tip on care issues each week!

Recognize the signs of weight loss and malnutrition
Weight loss is a common problem in long-term care. Newly admitted residents often lose a few pounds within the first month. However, weight stabilizes soon thereafter. Malnutrition and other weight related complications may be unrecognized over time because staff does not compare current weight with previous weights.

Control lawsuits with adequate staff and training
Preventing a long-term care facility lawsuit from being filed by providing safe, effective care is far less costly than defending one.
