Flu expert says vaccinations are part of the job
Criticizing the low percentage of influenza vaccination among healthcare workers, William Schaffner, MD, chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and president-elect of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, appealed to healthcare providers to “view annual influenza vaccination as a professional responsibility.”
 
Polio resurfaces in Pakistan
An eight-month-old Pakistani girl has tested positive for type 1 polio, the most dangerous and contagious strain, a World Health Organization (WHO) official confirmed on June 17.
