| Treating bariatric patients a necessity for therapists |
| As therapists continue to search for the niche market that will separate them from the competition, many rehab providers are failing to recognize the opportunity and need to care for one of the fastest-growing groups in the United States: the bariatric, or overweight, population.
Sixty-five percent of the adult population and one-third of all children and adolescents are overweight, according to the American Occupational Therapy Association's 2006 paper, AOTA's Societal Statement on Obesity. |
