| New Joint Commission standards surrounding focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) that took effect January 1-as well as other physician quality data-related pressures brought to bear by CMS and third-party payers' pay-for-performance systems-force hospitals to collect and evaluate physician performance data to a greater extent than in the past.
