| Future life safety standards offer new guidance, but scoring remains a question |
| The field review for the proposed standards closed on January 22. After considering received comments, the accreditor will issue a final version of the standards, which is scheduled to go into effect in January 2009 as part of a broader overhaul of all accreditation standards.
New standards will raise awareness
In 2007, The Joint Commission convened a small group of industry representatives to help it create the proposed life safety standards. William Koffel, owner of the consulting firm Koffel Associates, Inc., in Elkridge, MD, participated in the group. |
