    A handful of senators published a letter last Thursday urging CMS to withdraw the case mix cuts and scale back the value-based purchasing penalties the agency put forth in the proposed calendar year 2016 payment rule for Medicare home health providers. The document constitutes the latest effort in a growing bipartisan initiative to head off the reimbursement slashes CMS has planned for the home health industry in the coming years. Prior to the release of the senators’ letter, a collection of 133 members from the U.S. House of Representatives authored a similar appeal.
