HCPro, Inc., has expanded into managed care publishing by acquiring National Health Information, LLC, (NHI).

NHI, of Atlanta, Georgia, is a business-to-business healthcare publisher with subscription newsletters and books in managed care, and also in several of HCPro's core markets, such as health information management and long-term care. HCPro is purchasing all the assets of NHI, including 13 newsletters and ancillary products, several manuals, and 1 directory.

HCPro will create a new managed care market, composed of NHI's newsletters that focus on payors and vendors affiliated with payors, such as disease management, capitation, and consumer-driven healthcare. HCPro also plans to launch several additional products in this space in the next 12 months to complement the acquired publications.

"With such attention being paid to controlling healthcare costs nationwide," said HCPro CEO Bruce Guzowski, "we are particularly excited about the prospects for growth in the consumer-driven healthcare and disease management newsletters and ancillary products."
