Exemplifying evidence-based practice

Whether you are pursing ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation or redesignation, exemplifying evidence-based practice under the 14 Forces of Magnetism is an expectation in the written documentation. The following are a few ways EBP can be identified under the Forces:

  • Force 3: Management style. Provide examples of mentoring and succession planning by and for nurse leaders and direct-care nurses (e.g., clinical researcher’s career map, research fellowships, and PhD/APN formal mentoring).
  • Force 8: Consultation and resources. Give examples of how networking activities, professional organization participation, and use of advance practice nurses and consultants have contributed to enhancing the practice of nursing at all levels of the organization.
  • Force 10: Community and the healthcare organization. Describe programs and outcomes that have resulted from nursing collaboration/partnerships with other nursing entities in the community or region (e.g., nursing schools, nursing researchers, consortium work, and outreach programs).
