Recognizing nursing success
Published April 2008
Nurses will always remember their mentor, preceptor, or nurse manger who supported their successes while they were in school advancing their professional skills or becoming actively involved with a community project. Highlighting your staff’s successes is an example of where you can use your bragging rights to aid in recruitment and retention efforts. Exemplify your staff’s successes by:
- Posting on the hospital’s Web site a photo of a nurse with their story describing their community involvement
- Placing a photo of you and the nurse in the local community newspaper detailing their professional career advancement path and including comments on how the hospital staff supports the nurse
- Using the same photos and stories in your nursing recruitment ads or brochures
