Schwarzenegger addresses security breaches affecting spouse, other celebrities
Published April 2008
California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger told The Sacramento Bee that his administration is working with UCLA Medical Center to address confidentiality breaches that resulted in unauthorized personnel viewing the records of celebrity patients—including his wife, Maria Shriver.
The governor’s remarks followed a story in The Los Angeles Times that a UCLA hospital employee had viewed the electronic records of Shriver and 31 other celebrities, the Sacramento paper reported April 7.
”Everyone’s file ought to be protected, and everyone’s medical history ought to be protected,” Schwarzenegger told the paper. “That is the responsibility of the hospital, and so we’re going to go work with them to find a way so that we can help them protect everyone’s files.”
