Massachusetts receives $4.6M grant
Published April 2008
CMS awarded Massachusetts a $4.6 million grant to control healthcare costs by minimizing unnecessary emergency department visits, the Boston Globe reports.
The grant, awarded April 17, is part of a larger $50 million grant spread across 20 states.
The grant’s mission is to help Medicaid programs redirect non-emergency patients from the ED to other healthcare centers. ED visits by patients without insurance is a driving factor behind growing healthcare costs.
