The whispers about ICD-10 implementation were worse than the buzz before a wedding.

“Have they set a date yet?” administrators asked.

Earlier rumors pegged the kickoff for 2011, a timeline many called too quick to be successful. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) finally settled on October 1, 2013, as the deadline for implementation, according to the final rule released January 16.
